My most heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to the entire Toomey family. Dennis was an incredibly special person. I only have wonderful memories of Dennis, Wendy and the Toomey family (whom I would often see all attending mass at St. Pats in Huntington). Over the 20+ years I knew him, Dennis was the first one to ask how things were going and if he could help out in any way. Just an overall fun, funny and lovable person.
I only recently learned of his illness and passing and felt profound sadness. However, there is something comforting knowing that Dennis is now looking down on upon us and helping us all keep perspective in our lives. He is now and forever will be missed.

My sincere condolences to the family.
Dennis was within the many friendly faces that I got to know when I started working at EMSEAL 7 years ago. Always interested in knowing something else about you and always connecting that something with something new and interesting that would help me grow.
We got closer over the last year as he was going trough the same treatment as my dad, so we checked in often to encourage each other and challenge Dennis to put more steps in.
My family got close to his process too adding him to their weekly prayers.
His joyfulness and hope never left his side and me and mi family can only be grateful to have share the little time we did with him.
Dennis will be greatly missed.
Rest in peace.

Wendy and Family,
I am sorry for the loss of Dennis and for any heartache you are experiencing at this time. Dennis was a kind and caring man who went the distance last year by coming out to the Twin Cities area of Minnesota at a time when it was about -3. I told him he's the only New York family member who would likely visit me in these conditions.
We had some great conversations about family, making transitions, loneliness and also finding community in things we like to do. He poured his heart out for others. I could even tell his friendship with Ren was significant as the two of them displayed their sense of empathy, compassion and wit. Ren suggested Dennis and I have lunch at Matt's Bar for the infamous Juicy Lucy burger. And he said to make sure Dennis pay. It was even my first time at the restaurant.
I only wish we had more time than the 90 minutes together.
Today before work I prayed Hail Marys and asked that Dennis be invited into Heaven. I also asked for a sign he was near. The first patient I spoke with shared the name Dennis.
I am grateful for the text messages and phone calls Dennis and I exchanged following his visit. It's often never enough when it comes to catching up. But I know that no matter the weather, he is right by our side along the roads we travel.
And in coming up on the anniversary for when we reunited (Jan. 15) I will try to stop by Matt's to have another burger.
I'll make sure to save Dennis a seat.
Love forever, Greg Lucid & Family

So sorry to hear this sad news. Dennis and I were roommates our freshman and sophomore years at Providence College. He was incredibly kind and friendly from the get go, quickly taking me under his wing to help me learn the ins and outs of Providence, a city that he absolutely loved (though I was never quite sure exactly why). He always had a spirit of adventure and exploration. Through Dennis, I learned to appreciate the music of the Grateful Dead and the benefits of staying up into the wee hours to watch stupid pet tricks on Late Night television, among many, many other things. By our first night in McDermott dorm, through Dennis I think I had met everyone on the third floor (and possibly the second floor as well!). ... Most of all I remember Dennis's infectious laugh and what a fundamentally decent and well-intentioned person he was. While he his time here was far too short, I will be forever grateful that I was able to benefit from his steadfast friendship and guidance throughout my college years. My thoughts and prayers are with the Toomey family. May his memory be a blessing.

Q: How would you describe Dennis to someone who had never met them?
A: Wendy and Family, our sincere sympathy and many prayers your way. The CBA Albany Class of 1984 recently celebrated our 40th High School reunion at the Homecoming football game on October 4th, 2024. Dennis was there, and it was a special honor to spend an evening with him. While most of us had not seen Dennis for 4 decades, he was that friendly, kind hearted man…with a warm smile, we all remembered. Truly a great man that the world will miss! God Bless

I met and worked with Dennis on numerous Emseal projects. We had many lunches and get togethers at my office. He was always engaging and interested in talking about my horse farm, my hunting and all that happened on the farm. Always a smile. Talked about his family plenty. I never knew he had a connection to CBA? I’m of the class of CBA1985. God bless you Dennis! God bless your family.

Toomey Family, My thoughts and prayers are with you all now more than ever. I am grateful to have known the incredible man you all love so dearly. He was truly an amazing and resilient man who didn’t let anything stop him from living his life to the absolute fullest. Just this September I couldn’t believe he ran the same Cow Harbor 10k I did (and it wasn’t easy I may add). A true example how he wouldn’t let anything stop him from doing what he loved. He is an inspiration to so many and he will never be forgotten. I love you all so much. Rest in Peace Mr. Toomey <3

Wendy and family. My deepest sympathy and condolences at this time of grieving for you all. I first met Dennis when we became work colleagues at Emseal about a decade ago. From the beginning I always enjoyed spending time with Dennis at all our meetings and training sessions in Westborough, MA or industry meetings in other parts of the country. He was always friendly, thoughtful, helpful, and had a great sense of humor.
Over time and at a very steady pace I was blessed to graduate from being a colleague of Dennis to becoming true, true friends. Over the past many years Dennis and I spoke almost weekly and sometimes multiple times per week. We of course spent time discussing work and aided each other with advice and input on a variety of topics.
However, there was never a call when we didn’t discuss family and bring each other up to speed on what was new with our wives and kids. He was so proud of all of you and the love he felt for his family was truly radiant. Recently my son Ren was home from college on break and Dennis called to catch up. We had Dennis on speaker and hearing he and my son have that brief encounter filled my heart.
It was exactly a year ago that Dennis made a trip to Minnesota to spend a long weekend up at our cabin in the north central part of the state. I picked him up at MSP on January 11th and we started his Minnesota adventure. Our plan was to get him out ice fishing or maybe snowmobiling. The weather had other plans as he showed up in a cold snap and it was about -15 F that whole weekend.
We filled the days with great conversations, good meals and maybe a televised hockey game or two. He was introduced to Pull Tabs which he endlessly referred to as Rip Tickets as well as deep fried cheese curds. We drove through Itasca State Park, and he got his picture at the Headwaters of the Mississippi River at Lake Itasca.
Saturday the 14th he says out of the blue; “How far are we from North Dakota? It is a state I have never been to and want to check that box.” Sunday morning, we got up early and made it to Morning Mass at the Cathedral of St. Mary in Fargo 190 miles away. We had lunch at a local Fargo restaurant and headed back. Visit North Dakota, check.
I could go on for pages of stories but will leave you with this. My father told me when I was young that if I could ever count my TRUE friends on more than one hand that I was a fool. He was correct and the loss of Dennis lessens that count by one. I will forever cherish my bond with him and treasure the friendship that God granted us. I pray that you will find comfort in all the memories you hold dear.

Dennis is a truly wonderful person and I've been blessed to know him. He would always invite me to any professional event his company had or just for a coffee if he was near my office. He was a respected professional that I admired and shared many laughs with. We also shared a passion for golf and had a number of great times on the golf course. I don't recall a golf event where we bother attended and I was not on his team. I admired and care for this man that I gifted him a painting I created that he displays in his home office. My friend, you will be dearly missed.

I will NEVER FORGET the night I came to PROVIDENCE, in 1986 or 1987 I believe, to visit dear Wendy at her college. She was getting ready for the evening, paying extra attention to every detail because she liked a young man named Dennis & he was going to be meeting up with us at the party. Truly, THEY WERE MEANT for each other. I'm so sad about his passing. May Wendy and the whole family be comforted in knowing we're here for you & PRAYERS are being said. I'm sure he's lighting up THE HEAVENS. With heartfelt prayers, love & sympathy, Kathy Berlinger (FORMERLY CASEY)

Wendy and family, Mary, Tom, Laura and Mrs. Toomey,
Words cannot express the sorrow and emptiness we are feeling, and we are keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers during this extremely difficult time. As most of you know, Dennis and I were friends back at St. Luke’s school in RI for years, before he and his family moved away to New York, and we lost touch. Then a few years later, (it will have been 40 years ago next week actually), I found myself as a transfer student at Providence College trying to find my way. Dennis and I saw each other in the book store and reconnected. Dennis then introduced me to his group of friends at PC and I have been friends with this group of people ever since, many of them are in the attached photo. Dennis was one of the greatest people, friendly, inviting, and always a lot of fun. He would do anything for you. We are all blessed to have known him. I will miss him like a brother. Rest easy my friend.
Love, Kevin and Lisa Nolan
