My sincerest condolences to the MacLeod family. Scott was an amazing friend and will be missed dearly by me and many others. His friendly presence and willingness to help in any way was a true blessing to all. I will treasure the time I spent with him and all the career (and lawn) advice he shared.

I worked with Scott as part of his membership with ASTM International. I enjoyed Scott's easy-going manner and no-fuss approach to conflict. He was fun to hang out with at the meetings and at evening social events. I will miss his presence greatly and send my condolences to his family and friends.

My sincere condolences. Scott was such a great mentor and we quickly we became friends while serving in ASTM International. In the many committee meetings we had together, Scott was very pragmatic and very helpful for many members. It was because of Scott that I learned to speak better English and how the American culture works. Great stories we heard during dinners of his family which he loved so much. We had the pleasure in Berlin to meet Margareth and so good to see they traveled together in the last years. I'm sure that many people appreciated Scott and I will dearly miss him! Warmest regards, Taco van der Maten.

Scott was a tireless contributor with seemingly infinite patience. His decades of experience were an invaluable asset to our sector, but beyond this he was a trusted friend and engaging colleague who could navigate challenges with skill and grace. Sincere condolences to his family and friends-- Scott will be missed but not forgotten.

Over the years I had a pleasure to work with Scott within IEC and ASTM Organizations. One could not wish for better leader, moderator. I also considered him as good friend; on many occasions during our meetings we shared life experiences which were quite different. I spoke to Scott just few months ago and it was then when he told me that he will retire earlier this year.
It really is shocking for me to learn about his departure. Scott, I will always remember your warm, friendly personality.

I served on ASHRAE 34 with Scott as co-subcommittee chairman, he was an expert in his field, forever patient and funny. Sitting next to him in meetings, we had great fun with the quiet commentary that thankfully never made its way into the minutes. The refrigerants industry has lost a great talent!

I worked with Scott on ASHRAE and ISO committees and he served as a mentor to me on the ASHRAE Flammability subcommittee. I appreciated that he always made time to answer my questions, but he did not presume I needed help when I didn't. Scott was always professional, kind, insightful, and witty. I remember him asking a bunch of us what our favorite movies were and he had a whole list rattled off before I could even think of one. I send my condolences to his family, friends, coworkers, and all of those who had the opportunity to know him. He will be missed.

Deeply saddened to learn of Scott's passing. I participated on many standards calls led by Scott and he was always very inclusive of the many diverse interests and opinions, an excellent role model on how to get things done in a divided group. We will keep Scott and his family in our prayers. Rich Krock - retired from Vinyl Institute.

Working in different offices, I didn't speak to Scott every day, but those days I did would typically start with a "Yo" IM from Scott. We would discuss some technical issue for a while then, inevitably, the conversation would turn to baseball, hockey, skiing, or movies. Often, ending with a quote from Forrest Gump and always ending with a smile on my face. I miss those conversations and most of all I miss my friend. He was a great mentor, great father, a great husband, and great man. Rest in peace Scott.

It is hard to put into words how much the news of your death shocked me and it is even harder to understand why you had to leave us so early.
You introduced me to the world of UL and we became friends very quickly. Whenever I was in the United States you invited me to your house, we would swim in your pool and drink Mageritas.
You were always a friend. We talked about so many things and many times you had a good advice. I will miss your calm and level headed nature.
My thoughts are with Margaret, Jessica and Sean.

Today I learned that tragic news that Scott passed away. We worked together many years in IEC TC111 groups. of which one of them I was a convenor (sampling). We had at some point about 35 nationalities in the group. Within the groups we had great fun working together with Scott. He was also looking for ways to define what unites us in the group so we could keep making progress. I have very fond memories of meetings and dinners we had together around the world, particularly the Beijing and Jeju meetings sporing to mind about 15 years ago.
My heart and sympathy go out to his loved ones and family. You are truly missed, my friend. Maarten ten Houten

Scott was a super friend, the kind of friend who knew what to say, do, or just to listen, depending on what I was going through. Scott was the kind of friend who celebrated your successes and always made you feel secure. Scott was wise and simply put - had a kind and gracious sole.
Scott was there for me when my wife's illness took a turn for the worse. He was there for me after my wife passed. He listened and he acknowledged; he didn't try to tell me how I should feel or for how long I should feel it. He encouraged me when I have needed it most.
Scott and I shared our love for our families, our pets and our sports (ok, standards too :))
Scott had a large impact on the world because of his expertise, passion, principles and love. May his memory always be for a blessing. I love you Scott, and I send my love to the entire MacLeod family.

No words can describe the consternation that I feel since the day I have to take notice that my friend and colleague Scott is not with us any more.
With thankfulness I will lifelong remember our personal conversations, our common shared experiences when we travel and visit each other. More and more I felt strong affinity in our world outlook and what is really important in live.
Just starting your retirement period you were full of plans and with anticipation I looked forward to go skiing with you and your wife in Austria.
Scott, I promise you, despite all my sorrow, to carry on, forward-facing, in honor of you. Joachim

I was looking forward to finally being able to resume with WG3 colleagues after the corona calmed down.
I can only tear up at how much I have been encouraged by your intelligence, smile and kindness.
We have traveled the world since WG3 began in 2005. I still have good memories of being invited to UL in Melville, New York and meeting your wonderful workplace and colleagues in 2014.
With your wife, who always participates with us, we are like a real family.
Scott-san, you were a great leader. You will live in our memories forever.
Inhering with your will, WG3 will continue to keep good collaboration.
Please rest in peace.

Dear Scott,
I am very saddened to hear that you have changed the world like this, whom I met through a relationship I first met in Seoul in 2006.
As IEC/TC 111/WG 3 Co-convenor for a long period of time, I would like to express my deepest gratitude and commendation for the hard work and passion that has been devoted to me over the past 10 years.
Your family, especially your wife, has been with us for a long time as an observer who attended WG 3 more than anyone. And I also remember the time you spent with WG 3 with your beloved son and daughter.
I thought we would be able to see each other after a long time since Covid-19, but I am so full of regrets.
Our WG 3 members will never forget your hard work and dedication.
Please go to heaven and have a peaceful time.
Jaehak Jung (WG 3 Co-Convenor)

10 years ago, I attended the first TC111/WG3 meeting. It was my first PWI presentation, so I was very nervous, and because it was my first time to standardize, I was too clumsy and difficult. Scott taught and guided me like a father and a teacher. I can't seem to forget that warmth even now. For the ten years of attending the meeting, I have grown a lot with his help. I must send him to heaven now, but he will retain the warmth of my father.

His cheer was contagious - he was a friend to all he met. His knowledge and technical savvy was integral. His dedication to doing the right thing was a constant rudder. Here's to all that he brought to so many of us!

Watch over his friends and especially with his family as we mourn and laugh and remember and miss Scott. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen+.
I got to know Scott through many TC111 trips - he was always a steady presence and capable of bringing together people from all nations and backgrounds to reach consensus and move forward. The pic I am including was a trip to Russia and he and his wife warmly invited me to dinner one night. It was a great meal, made better by great friends. BTW Scott, you have turned me on to Talisker and Talisker Storm as "go to" Scotches. Thank you my friend, I will lift a glass of this tonight in celebration of life and good friends.
