We are beyond words to express our deep sorrow. We Loved Mike and will miss him.Mike was a true friend. I will miss our daily chats about just about anything.
I knew Mike for about 55 years, we sailed our boat numerous times, flew in my airplane for get away trips, spent winters together when they came to Florida.Always a dependable Friend.

I am sorry to hear of Mr. Mangan's passing. A group of us came home with Jen one weekend in college. The Mangan's showed us so much hospitality, and we had such a great time. After all these years, one thing stuck with me. As we were leaving, Mr. Mangan came out with paper towels and Windex. Mr. Mangan would not let Jen go until the windows on her car were cleaned. Honestly, I have never taken a trip since without looking at my car windows and making sure they are clean.
I knew Mr. Mangan was a wonderful person well before I met him because Jen is always such a wonderful reflection of both of her parents. My deepest sympathies.

We mourn Mike’s passing but celebrate 60+ years of both personal and crew member fellowship. I was 23 and you were one of the "old guys" at 30+ when I started. You extolled that sound philosophy of being the proper Airline Pilot, that is always carry your flight bag in your right hand and the Wall Street Journal in the other. Clear Skies and Tailwinds my friend. Until we meet again on the “other side”.

I first met Mike at my father's airport in Spring Valley, New York in the late 50's. Mike was flight instructing in his Taylorcraft, for the flight club affectionally called "The Cloud Busters". The next time our paths crossed was in New York some 10 years later during my indoctrination with Trans Caribbean. Mike was already a Captain and working in the office. We met several times during my career with American. Unfortunately, I never got to fly as a crew member with him as he was based in New York and I was based is Dallas and later Miami. I did have the pleasure of riding jump seat on one of his flights to Puerto Rico. Mike was a true pilots pilot.
I had the utmost respect for him
May he rest in peace.

Mike Mangan was a man of strong beliefs, an excellent pilot and a great storyteller. I will miss our monthly chats over a drink when we shared aviation stories from years gone by and discussed his book "Vignettes of a Pilots Life," in which he described experiences that only a fellow pilot could understand and appreciate. Mike was humble and soft spoken but had a firmness in his outlook that I am sure served him well in the cockpit during his airline career. I will miss both our time together and seeing the twinkle in Mike's eyes as he spoke about his remembrances of flying the DC-3 in the northeast winters. Thank you, Captain Mike...until we meet again. https://s3.amazonaws.com/skins.funeraltechweb.com/tribute-gestures/v2/pilot.png
