Obituary of Olivia Merz

Olivia Merz, beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt and great aunt, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones. Olivia was 74 years old. Olivia was a passionate educator for more than 30 years, and has passed along a love of creativity and learning to her large, extended family. She could make a magical rocketship or castle in a heartbeat, with just a few paper towel tubes. She was also an avid gardener, and never met a flower she didn’t love. Olivia loved being with her extended family and spent her life showering them with love. Olivia is survived by her husband Ernie, her brother Jerry, four nieces and nephews and nine great nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her dearly. Visitation will be on Tuesday 2-4pm & 7-9pm at M.A. Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Ave., Huntington Station. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, Melville. Interment to follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale.
