Boyd, Ellin S. of Huntington– Ellin was born April 15, 1931 in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Daughter of Francis A. and Marie Harrington, beloved sister of Margaret Mary and brother Francis. She was preceded in death by her husband Wethered J. Boyd. She was a graduate of the College of New Rochelle and as an alumna she received the Ursula Laurus award for her leadership and humanitarian service. Ellin was a longtime parishioner of Saint Patrick’s Parish, lived in Huntington for over fifty years and was a member of its Leadership Huntington program. As a Consumer Advocate, she worked tirelessly to defend the rights and needs of those less fortunate receiving the 2008 LIFE Achievement Award from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) for her essential role in providing education and community outreach to help low-income consumers address their energy challenges. She was a woman of enormous wealth, possessing a treasure trove of family, friends, love and laughter. Never did you meet a woman who more faithfully lived her values and who successfully passed them on to her family. She was deeply loved and will be fiercely missed by many including her children, Teri, Tim, Mary Kate, Liz, Peg, Susan, Greg, Mark, and Matt and their spouses Dennis, Jackie, Jim, Frank, Scott, Veronica and Terri. Ellin also had a baker’s dozen of adoring grandchildren including Timothy, Colleen, Greg, James, Tara, Ellyn, Megan, Anthony, Nicholas, Michael, Jaime, Donovan, and Emma and one great grandchild, Timothy Lee, along with many loving nieces and nephews. Visitors to her home were always cautioned to “be careful pulling out of the driveway,” and she ended nearly every conversation with her signature sign-off “remember always that you are loved.” Visiting will be held at M.A. Connell Funeral Home on Saturday 7 to 9 PM and Sunday 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM. A mass will take place on Monday at 9:45 AM at St. Patrick’s R.C Church, 400 Main Street in Huntington. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Family Service League’s Huntington Interfaith Homeless Initiative (HIHI) at 790 Park Avenue, Huntington, NY.
