So wish I could get out for Ellin’s funeral, and join in the conversations about her, her electric sense of humor, her ebullient spirit and infectious laugh, though my heart and my warmest condolences have flown out to be with you all...
She was a great lady, and her spirit remains s part of all who knew her.

To the Boyd Family, Words cannot express my condolences and thoughts for Ellin. She was an amazing, caring and positive person to know and work with. Her grace, sense of humor and dedication to her family (and beyond her family) has made a very positive change in this world. Knowing her has graced my life. A person with her accomplishments has a straight path to Heaven.
Our prayers are with all of you at this time. I am currently out of the state and will try to express my condolences in person. May God bless all of you. Bob

You will be missed. Ellin was my second mother. When my own mother died, she made sure that she had my back. She was a strong woman, who loved fiercely. She loved her kids and grandchildren unconditionally. She put up with Liz and I as teens and adults, god bless her. She raised wonderful children, and everyone was on their best behavior when she was around. I wish I could get a lesson or two from her on how she did it! We had so many wonderful memories over the years. I will miss her tremendously. God bless you "other mother". I love you and will miss you.
Love Barbara

Dearest Mommy - We love and miss you so very, very much! You truly were the most remarkable and loving person - our Queen. It was an absolute privilege and an honor to be your children. We are, and forever will be, so darn proud that you were OUR Mom! You followed and lived a life of extreme faith and left it all up to God. You truly accepted everyone, were extraordinarily giving, full of good deeds and random acts of kindness. We will miss you tremendously and are heartbroken... We know that you are at rest now, and the Good Lord knows that having to keep watch over all of us kids and grandchildren and great grandchildren, you are most certainly deserving of that!! You opened the doors of our house to anyone, for any reason, at any time, and never thought twice about it. All were always welcomed into the Boyd household - including the many animals that miraculously appeared there and the strangers that became family. I do recall hiding a kitten down in the basement for quite awhile, and even though Dad was extremely allergic, you let me keep him. We know that you are up in Heaven and are now reunited with Dad, MM, Fran, Joe, Flo and Kay, along with your Mother and Father, your beloved family and dearest friends again. I am positive that they had a glass of wine waiting for you! You will be forever and ever cherished and missed Mommy! God Bless You and Remember Always That You Are Loved...xoxoxo Susan

Dear Boyd Family,
We are so deeply sorry for your loss. It was a privilege to have met and spent time with your mom/grandmom. The last time I saw her was at Donovan's Confirmation and we all talked until 3:00 a.m.; Ellin was delightful and kind. Many prayers are being sent from my family to yours and to Ellin as she ascends to heaven.
With Love,
Marguerite Clark

To The Boyd Family,
I was so fortunate to meet your mom working at LILCO many years ago. Ellin was a trusted coworker & friend. Long after I moved on, Ellin kept in touch through email. We shared family stories, our joys & worries. My heart felt uplifted after each exchange. She closed each note with, “ Remember, you are loved.” Well Ellin, I hope in your final resting place, you know YOU are loved! I will be eternally grateful for your friendship. I do believe your work here was done.

Ellin; your contagious laughter, sense of humor and love of family, home and life made you an unforgettable favorite person to me, and I am sorry that I have been living so far away that visits were nearly impossible... you were always a favorite of my Mother, Virginia Grasso, and I recall all the joy and laughter that was part and parcel of any gathering that included Mom, you and Smitty... you are, and will be, sorely missed. Thank you for your infectious outlook on life’s foibles and the lessons you might have been aware of, that I still hold in my heart. I pray that your family all have their own cherished moments to fondly recall, and talk often to insure your presence remains strong for many years to come. RIP.

Mary-Kate and the rest of you Boyds, I think you know already how much my mother loved your mother her cousin if only for the laughter that ensued when ALL the cousins got together!!! If my mother could have emulated Moses she wouldn't have parted the water of Long Island Sound rather she would have moved LONG ISLAND ITSELF up against the shore of Connecticut, so she could see Ellin all the time. So too, my father, he like my mother enjoyed seeing your whole family, which made me remember when my parents went to one of your weddings, the one that it SNOWED! Come Hell or Snow drifts my father was determined to get my mother to that wedding and succeeded! I've got to believe they're all sitting down now talking about old times and filling in the blank spaces for those of them who lost some of their memories like my mom and a few of the others that were dealing with Dementia.
As for myself, I don't offer condolences, I encourage people to remember those who have passed, because a loved one is never really dead as long as they are remembered, its when they have been forgotten that they die.

Dear Cousins,
You have my deepest condolences. For us it is a sad time and we will all miss her very much, but for her it is a happy time for her suffering is over. She once told me how she enjoyed Erma Bombeck's columns. Bombeck wrote "When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me'." Your mother is certainly able to say that. She spent all her talent, energy and love generously on all of us; I am sure she had nothing left to give. She will be missed
