Barbara Peluso Obituary

Barbara Lee Peluso (Nocito) passed away on December 22, 2024 peacefully at home after an 8 year battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.  She far outlived the expectancy of the disease with grace, never a complaint.  Born August 17, 1942, recently of Palm City, Florida, she was previously a 53-year resident of Huntington Station after growing up in Floral Park. She was the loving wife of Charles for 60 years, devoted mother of James (Cyndee), Kenneth (Melissa), and Todd (Julie), and the best Grammy to Christina, Nicole, Nicholas, Lyla, and Ally.  She is also survived by her brother William Nocito, Jr., nieces Jennifer and Allison, and cousins Anthony Nocito, Jr., James Nocito, Paul Brown, and Eileen Brogan. She was a member of the Wheatley School class of 1960.

Barbara loved doing crafts:  needlepoint, sewing, and knitting.  She was a volunteer and proud supporter of the Hope Rural School of Indiantown, FL.  She loved to travel the world with Charlie or her girlfriends’ collecting treasures from each adventure to both keep and share.   Barb had a fierce love of shopping and buying gifts for her family and friends.  She loved hydrangeas, gladiolas, gardenias, and hibiscus.  She loved fine dining but was just as happy having a spam sandwich at home.  She would share a glass of wine with any willing friend.  Christmas Eve was undoubtedly Barb’s favorite as she hosted family and friends annually for over 50 years.  She held dear a close group of neighbors, her lifetime girlfriends: the Peeps, and their children who thought of Barb as a second mother.  She spoke of her 3 daughters’ in law as if her own; the feeling was mutual.
