Elizabeth
This is hardest thing I have ever had to write
my sister, my almost twin, my close friend,
There is an empty chair at our Christmas table this year
It is a space that no one can fill
a space that is reflected in our hearts
leaving a huge emptiness
Liz, you surprised us by leaving so suddenly
You last words to me...I'll talk to you later
Our daily phone call cut short
by the effects of a hospital procedure you had in the morning
You brought gifts to the hospital that day
In thanks for all who tended to you during these frequent visits
Your generosity evident to the very last day
You were very proud of your children, MaryBeth and Fred
and very proud of the grandchildren they brought up.
Mason, Gunnar, Colton, Freddie, Delana and Andrew
Each one of them showed care for Grammy
and she in return showed love for each one of them
Big Fred cared for you for quite some time
doing laundry, shopping and household tasks
Surely he complemented you and his attention showed great love!
Liz had another family
She was a lifetime member of the Huntington Community First Aid Squad
For more than 30 years, she kept her Tuesday evening shift
receiving and dispatching calls ...
some nights were quiet, others very busy
In later years Fred drove her there and picked her up at 11 o'clock.
She continued to attend Firehouse events with Fred
both groups knew her for her sense of humor and her friendship.
Liz was real, generous and a great friend with a good sense of humor
Let her legacy be for us to follow her example.
Rest in peace Liz...you will be missed!
