Edna Mae Kearney (nee Stine) passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, at 101 years old. Edna was born in Jersey City, NJ on December 28, 1922, to Henry J. Stine and Dora Stine (Sabo). She was a resident of Maspeth, NY for over 70 years and resided in Huntington with her daughter Barbara for the past four years. Edna graduated from St. Michael’s HS, Union City, NJ in 1940. During WWII, Edna worked for RCA making vacuum tubes. In 1943, she married the love of her life, John James Kearney. Following her marriage, she worked for Walcott Taylor in Washington, DC. After the war ended, she and her husband John returned to the NJ/NY area to start a family. After raising her three daughters, Edna returned to the workforce in music licensing at G. Schirmer
and National Music Publishers Association/Harry Fox Agency.

Edna is preceded in death by her parents, husband John James, daughter Patricia L. Whitney (Timothy), brother Henry J. Stine (Fay) and sister Mae D. Cifarelli (Joseph) as well as her lifelong friend Eleanor M. Hynes (McGuirk). Edna is survived by sister Joan B. Stropoli (Ronald), daughters Barbara A. Barkocy (Frank) and Kathleen M. Molander, cherished grandchildren Frank J. Barkocy (DeAndra), Kristen M. Pierson (Michael), Erik J. Molander (Emma) and Patricia, Erin N. and Christopher J. Whitney, dear great grandchildren Megan E. Edna was a kind, loving, and independent soul. She was fiercely devoted to her family, her faith, and the NY Yankees. Edna loved listening to music, especially Frank Sinatra, doing puzzles and crosswords, traveling, and spending time with her loved ones. She was always well dressed, whether she was going to get the mail or attending an event. Edna especially loved the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, attending their events, going on outings to NYC, playing games, and shooting hoops.  Edna lived her life with positivity, extraordinary strength, and love. She was quick to tell stories of her life experiences and give loving advice. Her infectious laugh and warm demeanor immediately drew people close to her. Edna was admired and adored by many, and loved by everyone who knew her, to know her was to love her. Edna will be greatly missed for the joy she brought to everyone’s lives.
