Annemarie Thoma of Huntington, NY, passed away on November 1, 2024 at the age of 88 at Birchwood Suites Enhanced Assisted Living, after struggling with Alzheimer's. Anne was born in Freiburg, Germany and came to America when she was 20 years old with her husband, Wolfgang Thoma and their daughter Martina. They moved into the house on East Main Street in Huntington in October 1956. They were married for 59 years until Wolfgang's passing in January 2014. Anne and Wolfgang began their business of furniture repair and restoration in the rear workshop which grew into a successful business through word of mouth. Anne handled the bookkeeping and furniture deliveries. In later years, they bought and sold antiques at some of NY's finest auction houses including Sotheby's and Christie's. Anne loved her Mercedes, French furniture, Chris Isaak, Chanel No. 5 and her fur coats. Anne and Wolfgang welcomed guests to their home for deli meats from the German butcher. Wolfgang had his friends over on Friday evenings to play pool in the refurbished basement built to look like a captain's quarters. Anne enjoyed returning to Freiburg, Germany to visit twice a year. Anne became a US citizen in 1995. Anne is survived by her three daughters, Martina Jackson, Babette Furman and Christine Jordan; sons-in-law John Furman and Philip Jordan; six grandchildren, Carly, Lara, Kort, Alexander, Cole and Jeremy; and her sister, Helga Doge. There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at the Centerport United Methodist Church at 3:00pm.
