William “Bill” Francis Beyer, also known as “Pa”, was born on September 18,1934 in Astoria, New York, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 16, 2024, at the age of 90.
Bill was known for his sense of humor, charm and movie star good looks. His personality and presence were bigger than life! He spent his early years in Queens, NY. While in high school he worked at Radio City Music Hall as an usher - a job he remembered fondly even until later years. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, worked at Esso in NYC until drafted into the US Army in 1957. He got married in 1959 to his high school sweetheart, Dottie, and got a job as a salesman because of his charm. They lived in Queens and then moved to Huntington, NY to raise their family in the suburbs. He started a business in the early ‘70s in the computer industry and continued to have a successful sales career in lower Manhattan until retirement at age 67. In retirement he worked in security at Huntington Hospital.
A devoted family man, Bill cherished the time spent with his loved ones. He was a proud father to Karen (Claude), Lisa (Peter), Bill (Laura) and Jennifer (Jim) and a doting grandfather to PJ (Nicole), Megan, Courtney, Dylan, Catherine, Peyton, William, Bridget, Lindsey, Vincent, Jordan and Taylor. He recently became a great grandfather to Peter John III (Tripp).
His greatest joy was being on the water and the time he spent on his boats. He joined the Wyncote Yacht Club in 1970 which became the center of his and Dottie’s social life.
He is survived by his children, grandchildren and great grandchild, as well as many dear friends who will miss his charismatic personality, entertaining humor and love of his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
Funeral Mass will be held on December 27, 2024, at 9:45 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Huntington. Interment to follow at Long Island National Cemetery, Pinelawn.
