Obituary of George Lahm
Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
George was born on August 21st, 1930 to his beloved parents George, Sr and Alice Mary Rose. He was an only child, growing up in New Rochelle, NY. He graduated from Manhattan College with a degree in Electrical Engineering. It was at this point in his life he met his dear Margie at a college dance. They courted, then married on January 30, 1954. They were soon blessed with their first son George, III. Many more blessings followed over the next nineteen years as they welcomed their children Kathy, Bob, Peg, Leo, Diane, Patricia, Mary Beth, and Christine.
He was a man devoted to his faith and family. He was an active member of Saint Hugh of Lincoln Parish for 65 years. In addition to a Masters degree in Engineering from NYU he received his Masters degree in Theology, studying at the Immaculate Conception Seminary in Huntington.
He was a skilled craftsman who loved to work on projects around his home which was built during the civil war. He loved the architecture and history of his house and was very proud of it. He was happy to explain it to anyone who was interested. His other interests included photography, bird watching, and gardening.
His greatest sorrow was witnessing the death of his daughter, Patricia, in 2019. Knowing he is with Patricia again gives our family great peace.
In the final years of his life he was confined to his home but enjoyed building puzzles with his Margie and watching the birds in his backyard. He loved his final years and lived them to the fullest! A true testament to the appreciation of life regardless of the stage. His love of life, devotion to God and his family are evidenced by the fact he is being celebrated by so many who love him; His wife, eight surviving children, their spouses, and almost all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren are present to celebrate his passing into eternal life.
