It is with a heavy heart that the family of Selvyn Britton announces his peaceful passing on October 2, 2024, at the age of 88. He is fondly remembered for being a devoted husband, a loving father, and a loyal friend.

Selvyn was born on August 3, 1936, in St. Ann, Jamaica, West Indies. In the 1960’s, Selvyn migrated to the United States. To support his family, he worked various jobs, ultimately serving as a Signal Maintainer for the New York City Transit Authority for over 25 years. Upon his retirement, he and his wife relocated to Grayson, GA. They loved hosting summer barbeques, holiday dinners, and milestone occasions such as births, graduations, and weddings. He was an avid gardener, a keen observer of wildlife, and he enjoyed being his wife’s sous chef.

Selvyn was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Doreen Britton. He is survived by their four children: Annette Johnson (Maurice Sr.), Maurice Britton Sr. (Curlean), Marc Britton (Faith) and Michael Britton Sr. (Ulander), as well as eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his daughter, Andrea McKenzie, and her children, as well as his three sisters, Evelyn Britton-Kinglock, Dorothy Rodney, and Audrey A.P. Britton-Gipson (Pat), and his sister-in law, Mae Martin. Additional survivors are his nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in eternal peace.
