Obituary of Audrey F. Gasser

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Audrey Gasser (nee Cornacchia), age 96, on October 4^th, 2024. Audrey resided in Melville and enjoyed many winters at the Sea Club in Hillsboro Beach, Florida.

Beloved wife of the late Louis, and survived by her children, Louis (Esther), Michael (Barbara), Janet Ciamaricone (the late Joseph), and Diane (the late Peter Jones); her adoring grandchildren, Janine (Angelo), Gregory, Christine, Corinne, Eric (Kimberly), Daniel (Lisa), Natalie, Casey, and Emily; and her five great granddaughters.

Audrey was predeceased by her brother Joseph Cornacchia and is lovingly remembered by her nephews and their children.

A dedicated nurse, she graduated in 1948 from Mary Immaculate Nursing Program, and later pursued her Masters in Education and taught License Practical Nursing for BOCES in East Northport, NY. She was an active member in her church, St. Elizabeth of Hungary, in South Huntington, NY. Audrey lovingly knitted caps and booties for hospital newborns. An avid golfer, well into her 80’s, and a talented cook. She often brought joy to family gatherings with her Eggplant Parmigiana and Italian Cheesecake.

Her warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family and community will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Elizabeth’s Church, South Huntington, NY; or to East End Hospice, Westhampton, NY.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 10^th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at M.A. Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Ave., Huntington Station, NY. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, 9:30 AM, at St. Elizabeth’s Church, South Huntington, NY. Interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery.
