Obituary of Kenneth A. Jarvis

Jarvis, Kenneth A., 94, of Huntington, passed away on September 6th, 2024. Kenneth was born in the old section of Huntington Hospital on August 12th, 1930, and graduated from Huntington High School in 1948. He was then drafted into the United States Army, in 1950, where he served for 7 months in Korea as a member of the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division, earning the Combat Infantries Badge plus Korean War Ribbons.

He was also a fireman having served 15 years at Centerport Fired Department, and 5 years at Cold Spring Harbor Fire Department, where he plated on the softball teams. He was also a lifeguard at several local beaches. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a mechanic, spending 20 years working for the Town of Huntington, as well as 20 years for the Roy C. Davis School Bus Company; where he was very popular with the children, especially the kindergarten classes. He was a very good golfer, and loved to play. His father was the greenskeeper at both the Crescent Club and Huntington Country Club.

He was married twice, once to Shiela, with whom he had 3 children, 2 girls, Donna and Sherry, and a son Ronald. His second marriage was to Marilyn Walsh, whose father once owned Linck’s Log Cabin Restaurant in Centerport.

As a lifelong resident of Huntington, Kenneth was proud to serve his country, and his community, and will be loved and missed by his family and friends.

 

Kenneth is survived by his son Ronald, his daughters Donna and Sherry; his grandchildren, Brian, Heidi, Christine, Kerri, and Christopher; and his great grandchildren, Julia, Wesley, Caleb, Lela, and Julian.

 

A Graveside service with Military Honors will be Held Friday, September, 13th, 2024, at 12 PM Noon, and the Huntington Rural Cemetery.
