Obituary of Stella Harubin

Please share a memory of Stella to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Stella Cecilia Puk Harubin passed away peacefully at the long-lived age of 108 years-old on August 27, 2024 in Huntington. Born in Brooklyn on July 18, 1916 to John Puk and Julia Dengler, she was a woman of devout faith who lived a life full of service, kindness, and generosity to others. In her early life, she worked as a textile artist in midtown Manhattan. Stella was a gifted artist; her many talents included sewing, hook rug making, crocheting, painting, and gardening. Ms. Harubin spent 34 years volunteering at the Carillon Nursing Home. She also belonged and gave service to St. Hugh of Lincoln, where she was with the Rosary and Altar Societies and a Eucharist minister taking Communion to those unable to attend church. She always found light in the darkness.

Ms. Harubin joins her husband, Benjamin Harubin; her granddaughter, Maya Slepak; and her sisters Helen, Julia, Vicky, Lottie, Emily, and Mamie. She leaves behind a legacy, which includes five children: Julia Jurkiewicz and her husband Alex, Ted Harubin, Kathy Koeppel, Ben Harubin, and David Harubin and his wife Susan. She also leaves behind her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Clifford Koeppel, his wife Nicole, and their children Amber, Thomas, and Luke; Jonathan Koeppel and his wife Jenn; Julia Chung, her husband Bryn, and their children Adelyn and Owen; Stephen Koeppel; Emily Harubin; Benjamin Harubin; and Tatiana Kaptan.

From David ,

"My dear mother was so clearly an amazing servant of Our Lord God Jesus. This was so evident that her dear friend Mary made a website about her and that is the link below. She was a terrific mom and just simply by existing, she shared her faith with those around her, she certainly did with me. Everything else in life is just extras. She gave me the most important thing."
