Obituary of Bartholomew M. Fogarty

WAREHAM, MA – Bartholomew “Bart” M. Fogarty, 83, of West Wareham, Massachusetts, passed away on July 15, 2023. He was the husband of Shirley J. (Whiteside) Fogarty and the son of the late William and Esther (McIlroy) Fogarty.  

He was born in Huntington, NY and lived there most of his life before moving to West Wareham 18 years ago.  Bart worked as a Maintenance Man for the Town of Huntington for many years before retiring. 

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Shirley J. (Whiteside) Fogarty; two daughters, Christine L. Geiger (Douglas) of Silver Spring, MD and Linda J. Fogarty McDermott (Ronald)  of Centereach, NY; a sister, Marjorie Janicek of Tucson, AZ; a brother, Herbert Fogarty of Florida; two grandchildren, Jess Geiger and Geoffrey Geiger, and many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Bart. 

Bart’s interment will be held at 11am April 27th at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Huntington NY. In lieu of flowers or physical gestures, the family requests you take the time to enjoy a nice walk by the waterside, and make a donation to the Harry Chapin Foundation, https://harrychapinfoundation.org in his name.
