Mary Grecco was a devoted mother of three children; Joseph Grecco Jr, who passed as a toddler, Lisa Grecco-Bonavita, and Nick Grecco, and a loving wife to Joseph Grecco for 23 years until his passing in 1977 from cancer. She became a single mother living in west Hempstead, struggling to take care of 2 children at the ages of sixteen and fourteen. She also was a caring grandmother to 5 grandchildren who she loved dearly and spend time with; Vincent Grecco, Anthony Bonavita, Nicole Grecco, Stephanie Bonavita and Gina Grecco. Mary loved to play cards, scrabble and other board games with family and friends, she loved to bowl and was on a bowling league, and had a love of classical movies like Abbott and Costello. She enjoyed cooking and baking traditional Italian holiday specialties that the family enjoyed.
After suffering a major stroke eight years ago which left her severely disabled sadly, she needed to live in an assisted living facility and some time after a nursing home. She spent her last few weeks in hospice and passed peacefully at the age of 92 on February 22.
