Obituary of Geraldine Riedel

Please share a memory of Geraldine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our beloved mother/grandmother/great-grandmother, Geraldine Riedel, passed away in her sleep the evening of October 26, 2023. She is survived by her two sons, James Mulholland (Chris) and Gerald Mulholland (Beth); her five grandchildren, Sam (Joe), Kevin (Tiffany), Robert, Kimberly (Kevin), Cynthia (Adrien); her two great-grandchildren, Bodhi and Mari;  her nephew Richard (Nancy), and great-nephew Andrew (Mary).

Geraldine Kraemer was born to Walter W. and Emma Kraemer of College Point NY in March 1933. Graduated from Flushing Hospital and Dispensary, School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1954.  Married to Edwin J. Mulholland of College Point NY in January 1957 until his tragic death in 1961. Married to Kurt Riedel of Whitestone NY in January 1966 until his early death in June 1995. Geri and her sister Arline remained the closest of friends their entire lives.

Geri was a labor and delivery nurse at Huntington Hospital for 40 plus years working at "the best job in the hospital". She started working for Huntington Hospital in the 70’s until her retirement where she was a mentor to other nurses and assisted in the delivery/care of tens of thousands of children.

An avid boater and fisherwoman from both boat and surf. Also proficient at rowing and sailing. Geri owned her own boat and enjoyed fishing the Northport/Huntington waters along with the semi-annual trips to Montauk Point for Stripers, Weakfish, Fluke, Porgy, Seabass and the occasional Tuna. She enjoyed trolling the rips off the point for Stripers with her family and Fluke fishing off of Shagwong point. She loved to surf cast on the beach with her sister Arline beside the lighthouse in Turtle Cove or at the North Bar.

She will sincerely be missed by her family and friends.
