CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF MARGARET ISABELLA GARDINER-TROTMAN

January 22, 1933 – October 17, 2023

Margaret Isabella Gardiner-Trotman went home to be with the Lord on October 17, 2023, at the age of 90.  Born in The Bahamas on the beautiful island of Eleuthera in the picturesque settlement of Governors Harbour to James Harcourt and Mary Ellen Gardiner. She grew up as the fourth of twelve children during the Great Depression period. Being the second daughter, Margaret garnished attention from others for her beautiful smile, joyful disposition and strong work ethic.   The doors of opportunities opened where she worked abroad and also further her education and pursue her dream to work in the Health Care profession in a nursing capacity (the same career path as her mother, Mary Ellen). Margaret was a devoted and loyal employee who was always on time for work.  She worked for the Caroline Nursing Home for 26 years and was recognized for exemplary performance until retirement. She relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico as her retirement home for 20+ years with her daughter Fredricka Trotman and spent summers in Connecticut and New York with her other daughters Joan and Judy.   Once her health began to fail significantly, she returned to NY to be cared for by her daughter Judy Howell.

Margaret a Christ follower –motto: Trust God, work hard and stay positive and strong.  She was rooted and raised in a Christian family with a very strong faith and attended church on Saturdays and Sundays.  This legacy was passed down from her grandmother and mother.  She was very active in Bible studies, choir, youth ministry, and Sabbath school and prayer groups. She read the entire Bible three times and a fierce prayer warrior.  She was always looking for ways to encourage and help others.  Her greatest joy was to see her children and grandchildren well educated, walking with the Lord and living out their purpose. She deeply loved her family and enjoyed making people laugh with her antics!

Margaret’s surviving family includes  three devoted children: Judy Trotman-Howell (John); Fredricka Trotman; Joan Trotman-McKenzie; six grandchildren: Clarissa Brown (Jesse); Jonelle Francis (Abraham); Conrad McKenzie (Emily); Anishka Charlton, Christopher and Judlicka Adderley; ten great grandchildren: Chloe Brown, Gideon Francis, Willow McKenzie, Le-Kino Rigby, Wintroy and Karven Fowler,  Christopher Adderley Jr., Rayvon Adderley, Charm and Charles McCardy Jr.; one brother: Millard Gardiner; one sister: Geneth Gardiner-Brown; along with  many nieces and nephews and persons and special friends in her church, local community, The  Bahamas, Connecticut and New Mexico. She was predeceased by: daughter Sharon Bethell-Jones and son Thaddeus Bethell; nine brothers and sisters and her parents.

May her soul find an everlasting peace together with the Lord, Amen!
