Obituary of June Mary Von Vange

Please share a memory of June to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

June Mary Von Vange passed away peacefully at her  home on September 17, 2023 in Huntington NY at the age of 77.

June is survived by her children, Justine and her husband Scott, Marlene and her husband Timothy, Allison; her sister Fran and her husband Steve; grandchildren Kenneth and his wife Skyler, Ashley and her partner Tony, Kaitlyn, Delaney, Palmer, McKenna; one great grandchild expected in December; nieces Catherine, Madeline, Cynthia and Christine. She is preceded in death by her husband William VonVange, her father Kenneth Mitcheson, mother Rosemary Mitcheson and nephew James Donohue.

June was born on June 8, 1946 in Brooklyn NY to Kenneth and Rosemary Mitcheson. She graduated from Catherine McAuley High School in Brooklyn, NY. She married William VonVange in 1966 and moved to Huntington, NY.where they welcomed three beautiful girls.

June stayed home to raise her family until 1981 when she joined the Suffolk County Girl Scouts as their Director of Fundraising.  She later worked for Charles Entenmann as a fiduciary accountant until her retirement in 2016.

June will forever be remembered for her strong sense of family.  To have a month go by without seeing everyone would be considered too long in her opinion.  She instilled in her children love, loyalty, and commitment to community as is evidenced in Justine’s work with rescue animals,  Marlene’s work with the Special Olympics,  and Allison’s work with the Huntington Warriors.

A funeral is scheduled for September 20, 2023 945am at St Patrick’s Church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate June’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in June’s honor to Helping Hand Rescue Mission or Special Olympics New York chapter. The family  would like to thank all their friends and family for their support and love.
