Obituary of Joan Ann Moessner

Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Joan Ann Moessner, 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 25, 2023. She was born on September 18, 1929 in Queens, New York to James and Mary Ewart.

She was raised in Queens Village and was a 1947 graduate of Dominican Commercial High School. Upon graduation, with a passion for travel, she took to the skies and became a stewardess for American Airlines. Joan was hard working and worked as an Administrative Assistant for multiple companies in conjunction with her 37-year career at Huntington Hospital all while raising her four children.

She was a fiercely independent and strong woman. The last of the original owners, she resided in her home in Huntington Station for 70 years. She enjoyed traveling, ceramics and a good book, but more than anything she loved her family and relished her role as mother, grandmother, and "GG". She is dearly loved and will be missed by her devoted family and friends.

She is survived by her children Gregory (Lynn) Moessner, Kevin Moessner, Dennis Moessner, and Kathleen Russenberger as well as her nine grandchildren Jacqueline (Shahar), Daniel (Tania), Lauren (Sean), Rebecca (Ryan), Christopher (Amber), Douglas (Kristi), Katrina (Heather), Stephan (Julie), Jennifer (Scott) and four great-grandchildren Leo, Alexander, Eliza, and Tilden.

Her journey reunites her with those who departed this life before her: father James Ewart, mother Mary Ewart, brother James Ewart, Jr., and son-in-law Ralph Russenberger.
