Ellen was a beautiful person inside and out. I am blessed to have known her. We met in ninth grade and had a friendship that was close through school. After I was married , Ellen being of my brides maids, I moved further out east on the island. Even though we would be out of touch at times, one of us would call the other to catch up on what was happening in our lives. Sometimes we would meet for lunch. We worked on our high school reunion together and it was great to be spending more time with her. She was especially proud of her sons and their wives. Her grandchildren meant the world to her. She would say "They are my heart". I have great memories of the times I spent with Ellen. I will miss her. Barbara Shafer Nienstedt

Sometimes, life gets really tough. This is one of those times. Our family has lost another beautiful soul...our cousin, Ellen Treanor Conroy. She was still grieving the death of her only surviving sibling, her brother, Vincent. We are heartbroken. I am stunned. As my oldest brother, Patrick, said best, "The end of an era indeed. Two families couldn't have been closer in the 40s and the 50s. Now one half is gone." That's how I feel. I loved these beautiful 4. Ellen was the baby. This adorable child ended up a talented, joyous, musical, actor and creative soul, the singing voice of an angel, and a loving Mom and Grandmother. Her children were her everything. In the last 8 weeks, she was brave. She was bold. She was Ellen-Strong. We all shared an incredible bond, a love so strong, forever connections, and survived all that life shoved in our faces. I will miss our marathon phone calls, my love. I will miss your sick sense of humor. I will miss our laughing hysterically together. We didn't get to see "Wicked" this year as planned, and I didn't get time to tell you the stories you wanted to know, but Vincent can catch you up on all that. Please hug him for me. The Lakota (Sioux) Nation do not have a word for "goodbye." They say "TOSKA." It means, "Until my heart feels you again." I shall miss you greatly, daaaahhhhhlink.

Dear Conroy Family, I have known Ellen since 1962 when the Treanors lived on LaRue Drive. We often reminisced about the good old days. Ellen was so thoughtful and kind and such a good friend to my sister. She will be missed. Please know that Ellen and all of your family are in my thoughts and prayers . Rest in Peace dear friend.
