Obituary of James V. Scarpati

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

James Scarpati, son of Ruth Stein and James Scarpati, left his earthly life on May 26, 2023.  Beloved husband of Lynn, loving and proud father of Adam (Gabrielle), the late Michael, Christopher (Julia), and the late Matthew.  Proud grandfather of Santino, Luciano and Marcello. Survived by his brother-in-law Gary (Jacqueline) and Sister-in law Casey (Roger) and his accomplished nephews and cousins.  Jim was a loving person, who supported friends and most of all family. He loved life and had a respect for the precision that could be accounting and the joy of being a pilot.  He loved the Arts Channel but never turned down the opportunity to watch a good movie, particularly The Magnificent Seven, The Godfather, The High and the Mighty, Falling Down and Jesus of Nazareth .  He loved learning and continued CPE, read and challenged himself by taking flying lessons in a Cirrus, a much more technologically sophisticated airplane than the Piper Cub he had learned to fly in the 1960’s at Coram AirPark. He never asked who was taking care of a project, he stepped up.   He made every holiday and occasion special, from driving into Little Italy to get special pastries, pasta, meats, cheeses and duck to preparing a homemade clam sauce and walnut sticky buns.  He was a person who could relate life experiences to help family and friends.  He loved shopping for the Christmas tree, wreaths and cemetery blanket and was always at the finish line for his wife when she ran in Saratoga or NYC.  He held a BS and MBA in Accounting from Long Island University, Brooklyn.  He is irreplaceable and will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
