Obituary of Lisa Harmon Conway
Please share a memory of Lisa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lisa Conway, née Harmon, 54, passed away unexpectedly on May 18, 2023 as a result of a tragic accident.
Lisa was born on October 1, 1968 in Atlanta, GA. Her parents returned the family to New York in 1971, where they called Bellerose Village home. Lisa was joined by her sisters, Laura and Amy in 1971 and 1973, respectively. The family moved to Garden City in 1986. Lisa graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1986 and earned an undergraduate degree in history from Adelphi University.
Lisa married Aidan Conway in 2003 in Adare, Ireland. They were both so loved that more than 50 people traveled internationally to celebrate their nuptials. Lisa and Aidan laid down roots in Baldwin and later moved to Northport in 2010. Everyone was always welcome at the Conway house, and Lisa most enjoyed being together with her husband, her children, their friends and family.
Lisa was first and foremost—and above everything else—a mother and grandmother. She had five beloved children aged from 34 to 12 at the time of her death, and a grandson who was only a few weeks old. They were the center of her universe, and vice versa. She was selflessly devoted to each and every one of them. She was appreciated by so many and was known as a “second mother” to many of her children’s friends.
Her love and compassion for others extended well beyond her family. She recently founded the Community Exchange which provides essentials—such as food and toiletries—to those in need. She ran this charity with her children for the benefit of the community. Lisa was recognized for her impact in the community last year when she received the “Women of Distinction” award from Assemblyman Keith Brown.
Lisa was predeceased by her sister, Laura Harmon of Garden City; her maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Robert Schlageter of Garden City; and her paternal grandparents Renée and James Harmon of New York. She is survived by her loving husband, Aidan Conway of Northport, and her adored children, Michael Reardon, his wife Carly and her grandson Theodore of Rockville Centre; Megan Reardon of Brooklyn; and Aidan, Katie, and Jack Conway of Northport. She is also survived by her devoted parents, Jeanne and James Harmon of Garden City and Southold; her loving sister and brother-in-law, Amy and Carl Glad and their children Anderson and Caroline of Stratford, CT; and so many other family members whose lives she touched.
