I am Carolyn O'Brien, the Recreation Therapy Director at St. Johnland Nursing Home. I was so saddened to hear of Bill's passing. He is still spoken of and remembered fondly. I enjoyed our conversations and how he was such an advocate for ATM that he even got a Proclamation for his awareness day. May he rest in peace. I'm glad to have gotten to know him.

My dearest son, I know that no matter what You will always be with me. When life separates us I’ll know it is only your soul Saying goodbye to your body But your spirit will be with me always. Rest in peace Bill. God brought you home to be with Dad, and I said to you several days ago..this is only a transition and we will all be together someday . Transverse myelitis may have taken away your ability to walk, but it did not take away your spirit and drive to move forward and you never complained. I will do my best to bring awareness to transverse myelitis. I will forever miss you and love you, but I know you are now walking in heaven with Dad. Rest easy Bill.

Growing up, Billy was the boy who had a smile for everyone. His laugh was infectious and his sense of humor was something I’ll always remember. Faced with such a hardship in life, he continued to ooze positivity. I don’t know how he did it, but I’m sure he is walking around heaven right now, making the other angels smile. Bless you, Billy. You’ll be remembered.
