Obituary of Carolyn Cunniff-Corcoran

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Carolyn Cunniff-Corcoran, J.D. on Easter Sunday, 2023.

Carolyn was a J.D. graduate from Loyola University School of Law, Dowling College, and holds a Masters in Secondary Education from Long Island University. She served as counsel to some of the largest international insurance companies, such as American International Group and Allianz; specializing in compliance, risk management, and underwriting.

Carolyn was an active member of her community, dedicating her time to organizations such as the Special Education Parent-Teacher Association (SEPTA), serving as an advocate for Families of the Community United for Students (FOCUS) and as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for abused and neglected children. She further dedicated her time to helping her local community through Big Brothers-Big Sisters of America.

Carolyn was a loving mother to two amazing daughters, Kira and Kayleigh Corcoran and is survived by them, as well as their father, James Corcoran of Huntington, NY.

She is also survived by her two sisters, Teresa Foley, of Ft. Meyers, FL, Catherine Lanieri, of Blue Point, NY; one brother, Marty Cunniff; and her father, Martin Cunniff, both of Lake Placid, NY. She is further survived her nieces and nephews Robert, Melissa, Jeana, Katelyn, and Sophie.

Carolyn passed peacefully at the age of 57, and will be missed by all in her family, as well as her community. In passing, she will be joining her mother Helen, her sister Joanna, her aunt Barbara, and her two dogs, Creature & Bailey in heaven.

 

Services will be held Wednesday 7-9 PM and Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM, at M.A. Connell Funeral Home, at 934 New York Ave., Huntington Station, NY, 11746. They can be reached at (631)427-1123. Funeral Mass will be held Friday 11 AM, as St. John’s  Episcopal Church, 12 Prospect Street, Huntington, NY 11743. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Carolyn’s name can be made to Big Brothers-Big Sisters of America.
