Obituary of Ronald Pontani

Pontani - Ronald Bernard, of Huntington, NY and Stuart, FL, in his 78th year, on January 2, 2023.  Born in Trenton, NJ, Ron was the son of the late Alcisco and Bernardina (Cicchetti) Pontani. Beloved husband of Joanne for 53 years.  Loving and devoted father of Christopher (Andrea) and Sean.  Adored grandfather of Kristen, Sara, Luca and Matthew.   Dear brother of the late Robert (Christina).  Cherished uncle of Rita (Pontani) Lucherini and Robert Pontani III.  Ron graduated from St. Vincent College, Latrobe, PA and received a master’s degree from Long Island University, Brooklyn.  He retired from the Nassau County Medical Examiner’s Office as a Forensic Toxicologist. 

 

For many years, he was an usher at the 9:30 Family Mass and an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 78, both at St. Patrick’s Church, Huntington.  Visitation Wednesday, March 1, 2-4PM and 7-9PM at M.A. Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Ave., Huntington Station, NY.  Memorial Mass 10:00AM, Thursday, March 2, Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, 53 Prospect Road, Centerport, NY.  Burial, with military honors, will follow at Calverton National Cemetery, Wading River, NY. 

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Ron’s memory to the “Students First Fund”, St. Vincent College, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Latrobe, PA 15650.
