Obituary of P. Kevin Faherty

Please share a memory of P. to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Peter Kevin Faherty passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2023, a week before his 81st birthday.

Kevin was born on March 6, 1942 to Peter and Rosalie Faherty in Flushing, Queens. He graduated from Brooklyn Preparatory High School in 1960, and from the College of Business at Fordham University with a degree in accounting in 1966.

Kevin was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served in the Army from 1966 to 1970. He received two Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars, and a Silver Star for service with the 101st Airborne Division. He was a Green Beret at Ft. Bragg, a Captain and a qualified Intelligence Officer, and was awarded Imperial Iranian Jump Wings. He was released from active duty into the reserves in 1970.

Kevin went on to have a successful lifelong career as a CPA in New York City and was known for his love of knowledge and his generous ability to share it. Later in life he worked as a semi-retired accountant and enjoyed spending time stargazing with his telescope, birdwatching with his camera, reading many, many books, and watching the children of the family grow.

Kevin was predeceased by his sister, Joan. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joette, his four children, Douglas (Lucia), Duncan, Peter (Stacey) and Kaitlin (Christian), his sister, Eileen, his three grandchildren, Francesco, Leo, and baby Callan.

Services will be held at M.A. Connell on Sunday, March 5th, followed by a mass and funeral on March 6th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Brooklyn Prep Endowment Fund, which supports students in need at Jesuit high schools, mailed to Fr. Daniel Fitzpatrick, Xavier HS, 30 West 16th St. New York, NY 10011.
