Joseph (József) K. Király, M.D., 90, of Melville, New York, peacefully passed away on January 23, 2023. Beloved husband of Maria J. Király for 66 years, father of Anikó Maria Ayres (Steven) and Éva Elizabeth Király (Joel D.), and grandfather of Kyle Tamás Ayres and Julia Skye Ayres. He is preceded in death by his parents, József  Károly Király, M.D., and Erzsébet Király (nee Palfi), his brother László  Király, M.D., and his sister Ildikó Villanyi. He is also survived by his brother Árpád Király and nephews Laszlo Medgyesyi,  Attila Király, László Király, M.D., Kornél Király, Kolos Király and Árpád Villanyi. He was born in Tiszaszőlős, Hungary, and graduated from the Medical School of Szeged, Hungary in 1956, specializing in internal medicine and hematology. Soon after completing medical school, he emigrated to Australia living in Canberra and Mackay and serving as a research fellow at the Australian National University and the National Biological Standards Laboratory.  In 1966 he emigrated once again to New York to complete his residency at Jamaica Hospital in Queens, New York. He had a private medical practice in Melville, New York and completed his medical career as an emergency physician at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut. He was an avid reader, tennis and chess player and loved singing, dancing and reciting poetry. He will be deeply missed by all who were touched by his gregarious personality, sense of humor, and joy of life. A private memorial will be held for the family.
