Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

William (Bill) Solimeno 07/12/44 - 01/09/23

William John Solimeno was born on July 12, 1944, in Corona, Queens in New York City, the son of Genevieve Solimeno (Smith) and Thomas Solimeno. Bill moved to New Hyde Park and graduated from Herricks High School in 1962. Bill married Gail Hayward in 1966 and was the father of Eileen (Dennis) of West Hartford, CT, Katie (Dan) of South Windsor,CT, Tricia (Brian) of Huntington and Christopher (Nicole) of Huntington.

Bill and Gail raised their family in Huntington, NY. He worked for TWA for many years and retired from Boeing in 2011. Bill was a baseball and softball coach for his children’s youth teams. He loved to travel and plan family vacations. Bill was an avid Yankee, Giants and Notre Dame fan. He traveled to many cities to see his teams play.

After retirement, Bill and Gail split their time between Huntington and East Hampton at the home Bill’s father built. Bill’s favorite place in the world was 144 Gerard Drive, Springs. He loved clamming, crabbing, paddle boarding, kayaking and fishing. Bill was a real outdoorsman and loved sharing the Gerard Drive experience with every friend and family member who visited, and there were many. He had a great sense of humor and always made us smile.

Bill was a loving husband, father, brother, good friend to many and a loving Papa to his nine grandchildren. Bill is survived by his wife Gail, his children and their spouses, and his grandchildren (Connor, Abigail, Emily, Griffin, Nicholas, Emma, Maya, Livy and CJ).
