Mary Keating (Donohue) Giglio
Aunt Mary, as she was known to everyone, 77, of Greenlawn passed peacefully on January 8, 2023 surrounded by family. Beloved wife of the late Thomas Giglio and her late son Tommy. Adoring aunt of Wendy (Vincent) Frigeria and George (Mary) Ladd. Great Aunt to Bruno, Lucy, Georgie and Ryan.
Mary was born in Huntington to Thomas and Helen Donohue in 1945. She was their second child, her sister Beverly was 6 years older. She attended St. Patrick’s School, Huntington High School and went on to graduate from Rider College in New Jersey. She worked as a social worker for Suffolk County.
During college, she was introduced to Tom Giglio on a doubledate. The minute she saw his brown eyes, she knew he was the one and they were together ever since. They were married right after she graduated from college in St. Patrick’s Church. Theymoved to Greenlawn where she gave birth to her son Tommy and was a doting and loving mother. Then they moved to Nesconset and had a beautiful house, an impeccable yard and an inground swimming pool. She always had a pot of coffee on,some cake to share, making it a warm and welcoming home.
She was a devoted mother and wife for 30 years before Tom’s passing. After her husband passed away, she and Tommy moved to Nashville, TN where they enjoyed country music and adventures on Tommy’s Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Mary’s son passed away in 2014 and she moved back to Huntington in 2021 to be with her family. She moved to Greenlawn where she lived for the past year enjoying her great nieces and nephews.
She was incredibly courageous and resourceful, always living on her own. She was a natural good listener and always had time for her friends and family. She had a great Irish sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh. She loved sports, especially the Yankees and a good football game. She was the most caring and loving aunt anyone could have asked for and we will all miss her dearly.
