Obituary of Angel Schmitt

Schmitt – Angel. The Lord took our Angel to His side August 1^st.   The daughter of John & Jesse Viorritto, Angel spent 88 wonderful years as a resident of Huntington.  She graduated from Simpson (now Huntington Town Hall) and Huntington High School. Angel then became the first in her family to graduate with a 4-year degree from Courtland Teachers College. Married to Jerome H. Schmitt for 20 years, lovingly raised 5 children, Stephanie, Hank, Suzanne, Lesley, & Jay and selflessly babysat and chauffeured 8 grandchildren Chris, Jonathan, Angela, Dianna, Stephanie, Mark, Jay Ryan and Jake for many years. Artistic and entrepreneurial, she taught quilting and organized quilting shows where people would drive many miles to attend.  This was followed by a successful 30-year career selling real estate.  She never walked into a house she didn’t like and never said an unkind word about anyone. A lifetime parishioner at the Church of St. Patrick, attending daily Mass until her illness. Angel will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her very much. Visitation Friday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at M.A. Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Ave., Huntington Station. Funeral Mass Saturday 9:15 AM at the Church of St. Patrick, Huntington. Interment to follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Huntington.
