Obituary of James Ghericich

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

James A. Ghericich of Huntington passed away at his home on July 30, 2022 surrounded by his wife and children after a long and accomplished life.

Born in Brooklyn in 1930, Jim went on to serve his country in the Korean War. In 1955, he joined the New York Police Department where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant and served in the technical service section of the Detective Bureau for over 25 years.

An avid outdoorsman, Jim traveled with friends to experience the wonders of nature whenever he could. Some of his most memorable trips saw him deep sea fishing off the Baja peninsula and hunting and snowmobiling in the Adirondacks.

Jim leaves behind his devoted wife of 67 years, Carrie Ghericich, his two children, Jeanne Hartman of East Williston, and James Ghericich, Jr., of Huntington, and grandchildren, Amanda Hartman (Patrick Ryan) and Julie Hartman Kandler (Ellison Kandler) of Brooklyn, who will forever treasure their memories of him.
