Nancy A. Rusch, 83, on June 14, 2022 She was born on September 12, 1938 in Rockville Centre NY, the daughter of Francis and Elizabeth Stablein.
Nancy attended St. Agnes RC School in Rockville Centre from first grade through twelfth grade. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Dunbarton College of the Holy Cross. She married her husband, Richard Rusch on December 30, 1961 and recently celebrated their 60th anniversary.
Loving wife of Richard. Beloved mother of Christine Germain and her husband Brian of Lakeland, FL, Kevin and his wife Dina of New Canaan, CT, Marilyn Maggio and her husband Jimmy of Huntington, NY and Billy and his wife Kristine of Ridgewood, NJ. Beloved grandmother of Katie and Kelly Germain, Tory, Ali, Maddie and Olivia Rusch, Emily, Caroline, Amelia and Charlotte Maggio, Matthew, Grace and Caroline Rusch.
Family always came first to Nancy. She was the textbook definition of a true Matriarch. She made it her mission to be the best wife, mother and grandmother she could. Sunday Mass was not optional in her life and her devout Catholic beliefs were embedded in her soul. She was the designated taxi driver to swim practice and myriad meets, while working in the Cold Spring Harbor High School library followed by the Town of Huntington for over 20 years. She taught her granddaughters CCD class. An avid fan of the NY Mets, she once remarked seeing her granddaughter sing the National Anthem at CitiField as, “one of the highlights of her life.” As a lifelong Long Islander, Nancy loved her trips to the beach. Not much could exceed the enjoyment value she put on her, 4pm Dewars in “a stem glass with lotsa ice” shared with her best friend and husband, Rich. Trips to King Kullen, playing bridge and chair yoga at the library were amongst her weekly hobbies. Wearing pink with matching jewelry and lip stick was paramount to her daily wardrobe.
A traditionalist who was set in her ways, she quickly adapted to the technology of the 21st century. She became an avid TV streamer, bingeing shows both new and old. She mastered the art of texting and loved receiving texts from her 13 grandchildren. She was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren. They are all a true reflection on Nancy; we hope she will now take a moment to be proud. God bless.
