With profound sadness I announce the passing of Lillian DeRose of Woodhaven, New York. She was 99 years old. Lillian passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 29, 2022 at the Carillon Nursing Home in Huntington, New York. She was born on April 9, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter of the late George and Mary (Saracina) DeRose. She now rejoins her loved ones, her parents George and Mary, her loving daughter Lilian Jacaruso who preceded her in death in 2017 and her loving and devoted sister, Lorraine Infante-Keefe who preceded her in death in 2020.
Lillian was a loving, kind, friendly, sympathetic, genuine and very independent person who worked hard throughout her life. She was well-loved and adored by many Always the social type, she can have engaging conversation with anyone. This led to many long term friendships throughout her life. If you knew anything about Lillian, it was how much she enjoyed her cup of coffee, no matter what time of day it was. Family, friends and coffee made her happy.
Living a full and healthy life in Queens near her daughter and grandchildren was also something she loved and enjoyed the most. Her family meant everything to her and she was always there for them, whether it was to help out, give advice, give support, listen or just enjoy their company. Being the best nana and great-grandmother was something that came easily for her.
Lillian is survived by her 3 grandchildren, Mark (Theresa), Dina and Christine, her six great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Justin, Matthew, Anthony (Jacaruso), Anthony (La Barca) and Amanda and her two nephews Raymond and Gregory (Laura) Infante. She will be dearly missed and cherished in our hearts forever.
