Obituary of Helen T. Browne

Browne, Helen T. on April 9, 2022 at the age of 86. Devoted mother of Helen Patricia (Kevin) Cronin, Richard (Holly) Browne, Robert (Maren) Browne, and Kathryn (Stephen) Hanley. She was grandmother to 15 and great-grandmother to 1 (with more on the way). She was an avid reader throughout her life and believed very strongly in the power and importance of education. Following graduation from Fordham University as a biology/pre-med major, she declined offers of admission to medical school in favor of starting a teaching career. As a teacher and administrator in the Cold Spring Harbor School District for over 40 years her abiding legacy extends far beyond her large family and many close friends and includes a multitude of co-workers, parents, and students from that district. She continued to pursue her own education while working and earned a Master's Degree, passed the bar exam after earning her law degree, and received a PhD from New York University. After her retirement she left Long Island, continued to travel on wonderful trips with family members, and lived four years alongside Central Park in Manhattan where she enjoyed city life. Her strong Catholic faith; her wonderful sense of humor under all circumstances; and her cultured taste in travel, dining, and the fine arts were attributes continually on display throughout her rich life.
