Big John Mizzi, I will miss you so much! I’ve been a customer/friend of John’s for 45 years starting back when the “Maple Place Garage” was actually on Maple Place, just down the street from the post office in Manhasset. John was so many things, first of all a dedicated family man, honest, considerate, knowledgeable, and always had great advise for folks like me still driving vintage cars. John was also funny, and we always had a good laugh every time we spoke, and that was often, I must have a hundred handwritten invoices from Maple Place Garage. I got John interested in VW’s and he bought this yellow convertible from a customer many years ago and we had a blast working on it together and getting it back on the road and to car shows. So, rest well in Heaven John, God Bless you.

My heart goes out to the Mizzi family. I have known John since I’ve been a little girl. My parents used to use him for their cars and as I grew up and came back to Manhasset with my family, the tradition continued on. My five cars would go nowhere else except to John. He was always so kind,patient,accommodating and honest and took very good care of me,even if it was just only putting air in my tire at times. Hearing of his passing has made me lose a piece of my childhood and has given us a heavy heart! May he rest in eternal peace. —Lauren and Andrew Baranello

Last June, Car Show in Manhasset with John, David Yeh and Jay Corn. We were so saddened to learn of John’s passing. We’ve known him for decades. A great Man, a Great Mechanic and a Great Friend. We will miss him dearly. Our deepest Condolences to Rosary and Family. Jay and Nancy Corn....and “No John, I still haven’t found the keys”
