Obituary of Helen C. Miller

Helen C. Miller,97, died December 13, 2021 at home after a full life. She was born in Huntington on August 22, 1924 to John Colligan and Nora OLeary Colligan with two siblings: Anna Murphy and Jack Colligan. She was a graduate of St Dominics in Huntington. She earned a certificate from the palmer method of business writing. Helen married John M. Miller on May 17, 1952. She had four children: Susan (spouse Peter Corrigan), Nancy (spouse Daniel Shea), Jeff (spouse Leona Baylis Miller and Michael (spouse Francesca Parla Miller); nine grandchildren: Kira, Katie (spouse Shawn Tucillo) , Cody (spouse Leona Meyer Shea), Haley, Julia, Colleen, Carolyn, Casey and Abbie and ten great grandchildren Ciara, Hailey, Ella, Cameron, Jayden, Ava, Shawn, Stella, Rowan and Lucille. Helen also has many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins and their families: Thomas and Gemma Murphy, James and Ellen Murphy, Timothy and Patti Murphy, Noreen and Guy Windingland, John and Pat Colligan, Dennis and Joanne Colligan, Jack, John and Lois Skehan, Kathleen and Ed McConnville, Helen and John OLeary and John and Nora OLeary. Helen was an avid reader and enjoyed working at the South Huntington Library for many years. She was very proud of her 35+ years volunteering at Huntington Hospital. She was an industrious knitter putting a little bit of love in every garment that she produced for family and friends over many years. She also liked embroidery and fashioned a number of pieces that adorn many of her families homes. Helen was quiet but, had an infectious laugh. Her face lit up whenever family visited. Through her everyday actions and interactions with people she modeled the importance of respecting and caring for others. We will miss your smile, your contagious laughter and your love. Love you, please give Dad a big hug for us. Helens wake will be held at M A Connell Funeral Home 934 New York Avenue, Huntington Station, NY from 6-9pm, Friday December 17, 2021. Her funeral will be held at St Elizabeth's Church 175 Wolf Hill Rd., Melville, NY at 9:30am on Saturday, December 18, 2021.
