Obituary of Jean D. Lavan

Jean Lavan 1929 – 2021 Mrs. Jean Doris Gohlich Lavan May 25, 1929 – August 27, 2021 Greenlawn, NY – Mrs. Jean Lavan, 92, of Greenlawn NY passed away on August 27, 2021. There will be visitation from 9am to 10am on Thursday, September 2nd at M.A. Connell Funeral Home in Huntington, NY, followed by burial at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY. Jean grew up in the Bronx, NY, the daughter of the late Margaret and Charles Gohlich. Jean had two sisters, the late Rosemary Lavan and the late Alice Labia. Jean married the late Eugene Lavan in 1951, and they remained married until Eugene’s death in 2017. Together they had two children, Kevin Lavan of Martinsville, NJ, and Marge Dooley of Greenlawn, NY. Jean is survived by her children, Kevin’s spouse Rosemary, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Jean earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Hunter College. Before retiring, she worked for many years as a dental assistant. Jean was famous for her advocacy for neighborhood stop signs, her love of game shows, and her pot roast with crackers and noodles.
