Edward Travaglianti, former Chairman and CEO of European American Bank, passed away on Tuesday evening. He was 72 years old.
A fifty-one year veteran of commercial banking in the New York Metropolitan area, Travaglianti had a distinguished and prominent career in the banking industry. He helped lead the growth and success of European American Bank where he served as the bank’s Chairman and CEO for more than a decade. At the time of EAB’s acquisition by Citibank in 2001, he was appointed President of Commercial Markets of CitiBank N.A. After retiring from CitiBank in 2002, Travaglianti resumed his banking career at Commerce Bank in 2004. Upon its acquisition by TD Bank in 2008, he was named President of TD Bank Long Island.
Mr. Travaglianti’s career in finance was always synonymous with vigorous personal leadership across a broad spectrum of community organizations and institutions dedicated to improving economic, healthcare and educational opportunities in the region. He was a longtime board member of Winthrop University Hospital, The Don Monti Memorial Foundation, Long Island University, Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation, and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory to name a few.
Edward Travaglianti is survived by his wife Patricia, son Edward and wife Amy, daughter Meredith and husband Michael, and four grandchildren, Britton, Blair, Luke and Amelia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made on Mr. Travaglianti’s behalf to Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory for Leukemia Research and The Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation.
Visitation will be at M.A. Connell Funeral Home located at 934 New York Avenue, Huntington on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The funeral mass will take place on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Huntington.
