Obituary of Kathleen T. Cannon Minogue
Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kathleen Theresa Cannon was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend. She left this world suddenly on June 29, 2021 at the age of 56.
She was born to Robert and Maria Cannon on October 29, 1964 in Jamaica, Queens, NY. On August 1, 1987 she married Patrick Minogue. Together they welcomed and raised four children, Bryan (Maggie), Kyle (Julia), Kristine, and Douglas. Her children were her utmost pride and joy. Kathleen watched her two eldest sons marry in the year 2020 and was expecting the arrival of her first grandchild in October 2021.
Kathleen was a lover of all things beautiful and sweet to match her gentle, loving character. Kathleen had a gift to make anyone feel the warmth of her smile and presence. And make them laugh with her witty play on words. She was a giver and Kathleen's love for children went beyond her own. As a Montessori Preschool Teacher, she taught children skills that they would carry with them for life; skills you would expect from a teacher, such as how to learn and work with others. But she also taught them to have patience, share, take pride in their work, and to love and treat one another with kindness.
Kathleen loved spending time outside gardening and cultivating the backyard where her children learned to crawl and take their first steps, which quickly grew into endless hours of running and playing. Kathleen also enjoyed admiring homes and communities across the island. She often did this by going on walks with her dog Oliver, taking a bike ride, or going for a long drive. The ocean was her haven and she would often make trips to Cedar Beach in Miller Place to watch the sunset. Kathleen had many gifts but one that stood out to anyone that spent time with her was her innate ability to notice things that others did not - to point out the simple things. Kathleen will be missed dearly as a mother, daughter, sister and friend.
