Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elizabeth Bubser, the beloved matriarch of our family, passed away peacefully on January 4th, 2021 at the age of 97. She was born on March 19, 1923 to Josef and Therese Brandner in Trostberg, a small town in Bavaria, Germany. She met her husband, Philip F. Bubser, shortly after World War II, when he was stationed in Bavaria with the United States Army. They married in Trostberg on June 28th, 1948. They had three children Philip, Linda and Edward. She came to the United States and established a bakery in East Meadow with her husband. She later worked at East Meadow Public Library in various departments, including the reference department for 36 years. She retired at the age of 83. She is survived by three children; Linda Soldo, Philip Bubser Jr. (Grace) and Edward Bubser (Karen); four grandchildren, Brian Soldo, Elissa Mostransky (Kyle), Jonathan Soldo (Lisa), and David Bubser; seven great-grandchildren, Kellan, Jason, Eric and Ashley Mostransky, Avery and Owen Soldo, and Camila Bubser; as well as her niece Lisa Ann Kelly.
Grammy’s true passion was her family. She lived each day for all of them, and her generosity often extended beyond her own family. She created “Children’s Day” each summer for her grandchildren, which consisted of swimming, fun games, presents, and more, all created and funded by Grammy. The children described it as an all-day party. Grammy always had a smile on her face and was excited to be alive and present in the lives of all with whom she spent time. She even built a treehouse in her yard for frequent summer sleepovers. She was instrumental in helping raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Well into her older years, she would be on the floor playing with her great-grandchildren and having them hop on her knee as she made up songs for them. The love you could see in all their eyes when they spent time with her was amazing. She was the number one New York Yankees fan that ever lived. She successfully passed that passion on to some of her great-grandchildren, as she would always say she imagined them playing for the Yankees someday. There is great sadness in knowing that Grammy will only be with us in spirit; we wanted her to live forever. She was and always will be the greatest Grammy ever.
