Obituary of Joan Sangiovanni
Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On March 24, 2020, Joan Catherine Sangiovanni of Huntington passed away peacefully surrounded by her children. She was born in Amityville, NY in the fall of 1943 to Charles "Cleveland" and Catherine (McDonnell) Harris.
At a very young age she and her little sister Carol Ann (Price) experienced the unimaginable, losing both their parents within six months of each other. They were raised by family, became faithful to God, both attending parochial schools. After graduation she started her career in banking where her love for helping people flourished.
She met the love of her life, Charles "Richie" Sangiovanni, they were married in Huntington at St. Patrick’s Church in November 1963. The happiness she found in his big loving family was all that warmed her heart. Welcoming her with open arms and hearts, she gained not just a new family but many friends within.
Joan is remembered for her warm, contagious smile and her kind, honest heart. Sharon, her daughter, quoted a friend.." you don’t always remember what someone says...but you always remember how someone makes you feel, I know your mom loved us because she always made us feel so special.”
Joan is survived by daughter Sharon Annunziata (Joe), Richard, Andrew (Danielle). Her 5 grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Julia and Jordan Annunziata, Andrew and Anthony Sangiovanni. Her Nieces and Nephews, whom she loved so much, as well as her Great nieces and nephews.
A small family catholic burial was held on Thursday March 26th at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Huntington. With all of the support and love from all of our family who loved her but was unable to hug us, we knew you were there. A memorial service will be held for Joan at a later date.
