Obituary of John J. Samoske

Samoske, John Joseph, passed away November 1, 2019.  John was born March 16, 1929 in Glen Cove, New York. Son of Alice & John. He attended Glen Cove High School.  John was a graduate of St. John’s University earning a B.A. and the a Master of Arts from Adelphi University.  He was a U.S.A.F. Reservist from 1951-1953.  He was released with the rank of Captain.  John left working in advertising for 15 years in New York City to persue his life long ambition of teaching Social Studies at Half Hollow Hills J.H.S. where he worked for 15 years.  John married the love of his life Barbara E. Gal in 1956 at St. Patrick’s Church in Huntington.  They enjoyed 60 years together- traveling to 135 countries, entertaining friends from near and far, and volunteering at church activities especially in the music department.  When John retired he moved to Florida in 1984.  He was the Commodore of the Tarpon Spring Yacht Club.  He was also a talented piano player.  On November 8, 2019 a memorial mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church in Huntington at 9:45 AM.
