Beloved son of Virginia and Salvatore Sposato and proud father of 7 children, Frank Sposato passed away Saturday September 28 peacefully in his home, surrounded by loved ones.  He leaves behind his children Frankie, Robert, Jeff, Bonnie, Rick and Debra and his grandchildren William, Michael, Daniel, Jasmine, Greg, India, Milo and Julian. His abundant family also included spouses and partners, Shante, Nancer, Peter and Eddie as well as his in-laws Debbie and Shel, their children and grandchildren and his niece Lisa. His daughter Donna sadly passed away in 2011 and his grandson Jason (her son), passed a few years later.

Frank was born on March 23, 1928 in Mt. Vernon, NY and lived a happy childhood there with his parents and sister, Lou with whom he was very close. He learned how to play the accordion at age 10 and music was a thread that followed him through his whole life. He joined the Army at age 18 and was stationed in Japan as a Communications and Electronics operator, as well as performing in the Army jazz group. Upon leaving the service and at the urging of his high school physics professor he decided to attend college. He attended Manhattan College, an all male Catholic college in the Bronx and studied engineering.

In 1950 while still in college Frank married Antoinette Maraia with whom he had three children, Donna, Franke and Robert. His first job as an engineer was at the Signal Corps Engineering labs in New Jersey and so began his long and successful career. He also began the pursuit of several of his life-long hobbies; theater, photography and golf while expanding his love of music and beginning the study of piano. As time passed his natural ability to charm and communicate with a broad variety of people and business associates allowed his career to flourish. He moved from engineering to management to consulting until ultimately starting his own company which specialized in the manufacture of power supplies for computers.

After 16 years of marriage, he met Judy Schwartz, whom he described as the love of his life. Frank and Ann divorced, as did Judy and her husband Paul. Frank and Judy married in 1966 and remained happily married until Judy’s death in 2012.  Frank’s three children Donna, Frankie and Robert along with Judy’s three children Bonnie, Rick and Debra, came together to form the new family which grew to include Jeffrey, their son.

Life continued…Growing up, friends, work, vacations, college and jobs for the kids, grandchildren arrived, hobbies grew and more. Two new passions that entered Frank’s life were the discovery and love for bicycling and sailing. The bicycling ultimately led to his participation in several local clubs as well as gold and silver medals at the senior Olympics. He also competitively sailed both model and ful- size boats. He was an active member of the Huntington Camera Club, where he won numerous awards for his creative and beautiful photography.

A great change in his life was the sudden death of his beloved wife Judy to cancer. Although heartbroken, he moved to the Greens and began the process of building a new life. He found many friends, joined many clubs including, the ‘bad movie’ club, photography, bowling, bocce ball, men’s group and others. It was here that he found friendship and peace until his death.

He was an inspiration, guiding light and never-ending source of support, humor and friendship to those around him. He will be remembered and missed by us all.

When great souls die,

after a period peace blooms,

slowly and always

irregularly. Spaces fill with a kind of

soothing electric vibration.

Our senses, restored, never

to be the same, whisper to us.

They Existed. They Existed.

We can be. Be and be

better. For they existed.
