Obituary of Anna Moszczyc

Anna Moszczyc, 95, was born in Dobra-Limanova (Nowy Sacz), Poland on January 5, 1924, to Jan and Patricia Kenski Wator, and passed away on March 8, 2019. She grew up on a farm south of Krakow, the fifth of seven children.

During WWII, in 1942, the Gestapo sent her to a work-camp in a shoe factory in Piermesent, Germany, finishing soles of shoes for military purposes. Later that year, until the end of the war in 1945, she was sent to work for the German subsidiary of General Motors at the Adam Opel Plant in Ludvegshvin, Germany, monitoring temperature gauges.

After World War II, Anna emigrated to Halifax-Nova Scotia, Canada under the movement sponsored by the Canadian government for girls in displaced camps in Europe. While there, Anna met Michael (Misha) Moszczyc. He was selling shoes on the black market. She could not afford shoes and he generously gave them to her at no charge.

Anna was married to Michael at Holy Trinity Church in Montreal in 1949. They then moved to Prospect Park, Brooklyn where their son Paul was born. Later they moved to Huntington Station, NY where their daughter Susan Ann was born. In 1963 they moved into their newly built home in South Huntington, where they raised their children.  They were members of St. Elizabeth R.C. Church.

Anna was predeceased by her beloved husband Michael. She was the loving mother of Paul Moszczyc and Susan A. Bruno (Louis) and the cherished grandmother of R. Monica Moszczyc and Marissa P. Moszczyc of Greenlawn, N.Y.. She is survived by her brother Andrzej and sister Helena in Poland, and many loving nieces and nephews. Her kind and generous spirit will be greatly missed.

Burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wednesday, March 13th under the direction of Connell Funeral Home.
