Obituary of Joseph J. Wulfken

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Joseph Wulfken passed away peacefully on October 8, 2018. Joseph was born on March 16, 1927 in Hicksville, NY, and spent his youth on Long Island. He served in the Navy, where he attended college and studied electronics. He met Mary Sprague and they married on August 14, 1949, purchasing a piece of property on Sunnyside Boulevard in Plainview. He built a small ranch where they raised their six children; William, Joseph, John, Phillip, Mary, and Charles.

Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he went to work as a television repairman. He eventually moved on to a career in air conditioning repair and service. A newfound passion for antique cars persuaded him to give up refrigeration and pursue restoration. He restored many cars and made countless parts for other collectors throughout his lifetime. His love for Warrensburg and the North Country induced him to purchase property on the Hudson River, where, along with his sons, he constructed a great log cabin that generations of his family have enjoyed over the years.

He is survived by his children Joseph, Phillip, and Charles, his wife Clara, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will always be remembered fondly.

If desired, contributions in Joseph's memory may be sent to The Northport VA Medical Center, that cared for him so diligently:
