Dad, today September 21st 2024 marks the 6th year of your passing. I miss you and mom beyond words . You were truly the most loving, caring father a daughter could have. Time doesn't diminish the emptiness and grief I feel. It seems to get stronger with each passing year. I hope you know how much I love you and can't wait to be reunited with you and mom. Love always, Lisa

Hi my name is John Calvaruso. I've been looking for my first advertising boss for a long time. Well, I found him tonight. I know it's quite a few years later but I would still like to send my deepest condolences anyway. Joe gave the green light for John to hire me at 16 years old. Not even out of High School of Art and Design yet. This is now my 40th year in the business and I owe a lot to him. I never stopped thinking about those years that I worked at Graphic Studio at 155 East 55th Street. It was by far the hardest job I've ever had but it made me an absolute perfectionist which is what you needed to be back then. I worked for some sharp Italians in the Ad Biz but Joe Lombardo was the sharpest by far. He was also very tough when it came to the quality of the work. When he would scream I would go run and hide. I uploaded two pictures that I hold very near and dear to my heart. The one on the boat shows the crew from the studio. Billy Johnson, John Mojave, John Predney, Andy, George Muller, and Frank Mignosi. That was a crazy place but I loved it. The gentleman that I worked side-by-side with was an older guy named Herb Herion. He was a cool cat from Uptown Harlem . He doodled on his drafting table caricatures of guys in the studio. Needless to say, I loved it and when he threw it away I took it out of the garbage and kept it. It's exactly 40 years old now. Notice John Predney's crazy eyes, that's how he looked when Joe would scream. He would get totally rattled. LOL. It it would get very busy at times so if you had the same name as someone else, they would change it for you. There were four John's, they renamed one Michael and called me Vinny. LOL. My job was to clean all the airbrush water bowls, empty the garbage, take photo stats, deliver comps booklets to Avon, and look for logo files when someone needed one. I felt like they set me up LOL because the files were not the neatest and it always took me too long to find the right one for them. And of course I got yelled at. LOL. So one day I reorganized all of the logos and told them all, that's the last time I get suckered into getting in trouble. Lol. I loved those guys and that place. They were all nuts but they were the best and all extremely talented. Rest in peace my mentor, hope to see you on the other side sometime. It's been 40 years since I worked there and when I close my eyes it feels like I'm there again now. So proud to be a part of Lombard Studio.

Hi John, my name is Lisa Lombardo. I'm the oldest daughter of Joseph. Today May 10,2022 is the anniversary of my mom's passing. For some reason, I decided to go on my Dad's obituary page and I saw your posting. It meant so much to me to hear about my Dad. I remember him working at Graphic studios. I know he loved his work and he loved all the people there. Its unlikely that you will read this but if you do, I appreciate that you took the time to remember my Dad. Thank you.. lisanna34@gmail.com

R.I.P. peace Mr. Lombardo. It was a joy meeting you that one time in Cincinnati at Gina’s graduation from law school. I know you were so proud of her, she loved you so much and spoke with you often. My prayers go out to your family and friends.

Rest In Peace Mr. Lombardo. Gina always spoke so proudly of you...how much she loved you, how talented you were, how fun and generous you were...and mostly how you adored your wife.
I look forward to celebrating your life and to having a drink in your honor...and in your words ...”we won’t rush this”
God Bless you and may you have eternal peace with Carol.

My Sweet, Sweet Uncle Joe,
Your sister (Mom) picked you for my godfather at birth. I picked you for my godfather at confirmation. You always welcomed me with open arms, hugs, kisses and a big smile. You were the ONLY one who made me feel safe and secure throughout my life. You always told me I was your favorite niece, and you knew you were my favorite uncle. I love you so much!
Until we meet again,
Love Ginny xoxo
