Obituary of George Francis Oates

Oates, George F. (2nd) of Lewes, Delaware, and previously of Queens Village and Greenlawn, NY.  Beloved husband of the late Eileen Sullivan Oates. Devoted father of George, Cynthia, James, John, Christine and Michael. Grandfather of Mary Kate, Eric, Christopher, Thomas, Kevin, Megan, James, Katherine and Diana. Great-grandfather of Grace, Connor and Catherine. Brother to the late Teresa (Oates) Orlando and Mary (Oates) Boeckmann. He was known as loyal, lifelong friend and fun-loving “Uncle George” to his many Sister-In Laws, Brother-In Laws and family of many nieces and nephews.  

Served US Army 101st Airborne Division 1951-1953.  Avid lifelong pursuits include golf, fishing and travel.  Worked in New York City throughout his career in the newspaper industry. 

December 12, 1930 - July 8, 2018.

 

 

Viewing Thursday July 12th 2-4pm and 7-9pm.

Prayers 8pm Thursday led by Brother Kevin Kriso, OFM

Interment Friday July 13th, 10:30 am

St. Patrick’s Cemetery Huntington, New York
